Radici del Sud - Appointment from 9 to 14 June 2021 with the Salon of Wines and Oils of Southern Italy
The 15th edition of Radici del Sud will be held from 9 to 14 June 2021 in Sannicandro di Bari (BA). More than 120 companies already confirmed but registrations are still ongoing
Radici del Sud has confirmed its 15th edition and is preparing to bring the best of Southern Italian wine and oil back to the Castle of Sannicandro di Bari (BA). More than 120 companies have already confirmed their participation in the event, scheduled from 9 to 14 June 2021, but it is possible to register, while places last, at www.radicidelsud.it.
The June event will be preceded by three days in spring, with two juries of Italian and European journalists who will test and award the wines presented by the wineries for the 2020 edition, which was cancelled due to the health emergency. For the new event in June, winemakers who have already signed up will be entitled to participate without repeating their registration and, together with the new participants, will be asked to send in their new vintages in May 2021.
Producers who did not sign up in 2020 can register for the new edition by 31 January 2021, while places last, to take part in the June activities and competition.
"The enthusiasm shown by the wineries is making us very proud," says Nicola Campanile, organiser of the event. "We are still several months away from the 2021 edition and, despite the hard year behind us, the wineries and oil mills have already reserved almost all the places available to take part in Radici del Sud. It is a really good sign to know how many wineries strongly believe in our event and we hope that this will be an opportunity to re-launch the wines and oils of Southern Italy and their producers after this difficult period.
For the first time, the 15th edition of Radici del Sud will also involve winemakers from Sardinia, Abruzzo and Molise, along with those from Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania and Sicily who have already been involved in previous editions.
The days of 12th and 13th June will be dedicated to the Wine Contest: wines from Southern Italy, sorted by vine variety, will be tasted by two different juries of both Italian and international journalists and influencers. At the same time, the other rooms of the Castle will host the B2B meetings between producers and buyers.
The 10th and 11th of June there will be the wine tours around the region, where producers will meet buyers from European and non-European countries such as Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Great Britain, Holland, Germany, Russia, Poland, South Korea, Canada and the United States.
The day open to the public with the Wine and Oil Exhibition is scheduled for Monday 14th of June, when industry professionals and enthusiasts will be invited to the tasting desks in the Castle to meet the winemakers and taste the wines and oils of Southern Italy. This year, too, there will be a dedicated stand for artisanal wines, with tastings and panels focusing on the wine industry.
The event is sponsored by the Regional Council and the Agriculture Department of the Apulia Region, Unioncamere and the Municipality of Sannicandro di Bari and will be carried out in full compliance with the Italian Government's anti-Covid19 measures.
